Christantus Uche Sparks Straightforward Palace Victory at Shelbourne.

Even though embarking on their first-ever continental campaign, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Missing key players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable win that virtually guarantees them a place in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

A further victory in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be enough to seal straight passage to the last 16, especially after a previous setback against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Moment

This match offered a platform for some of Palace's lesser-used players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a clinical finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second game in succession.

A Shelbourne team that had finished their domestic season were no match even for a largely second-string Palace lineup. The Londoners were further weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee problems.

Dominance Established from the Start

Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly took control. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple tap-in.

Midfielder Adam Wharton came close minutes later, driving a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the referee waved away the appeals.

Ex-Arsenal man didn't need to wait long to get his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's effort had struck the post.

The home side were hanging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for a couple of agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Contest

The match was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest several individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring with his first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then missed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for improvement in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect evening for the visiting side.
