Severe Precipitation Aggravate Situation for Evacuated Gazans, Officials Caution

Intense storms over the recent period have worsened the precarious living conditions of the vast number of displaced civilians in the territory, as stated by relief organizations.

"Terrible" Weather Poses Severe Threats

A official described the previous night's conditions as "horrendous", with rain so heavy that up to 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the streets.

"These conditions was really terrible for the residents. The heavy rains were so intense... And the gusts were so strong," stated the representative.

Officials express extreme concern that minors living in tents in soaked garments will succumb to hypothermia and various sicknesses.

Deaths and Widespread Loss

The health ministry have confirmed that one baby has died from hypothermia and at least 11 other people have died in structural failures due to the storms.

Additional accounts put a greater number of casualties. Officials stated that numerous homes had collapsed completely and many others had been partly destroyed.

Assistance Distribution Considered Inadequate

Organizations have increased deliveries of tarpaulins, bedding and clothes after the ceasefire started, but they have said there is continues to be not enough aid reaching those in need.

"We are operating tirelessly to provide that relief and to distribute it, but the scale of the needs is so vast that we continue to see thousands of families and minors who are really suffering each evening," warned one spokesperson.
