The co-founders behind the famous ice cream brand Ben and Jerry's has stated how corporate owner the multinational conglomerate stopped the introduction for an innovative pro-Palestinian ice cream flavor.

Ben Cohen, who co-founded the business with his partner, revealed that he will independently develop the controversial flavor as part of an individual series showcasing causes the company has been prevented from speaking out about.

Ongoing Conflict Between Creators versus Parent Company

This latest announcement escalates the continuing conflict between the world-famous dessert company and its corporate parent, the British packaged goods corporation which acquired the ice cream brand since 2000.

Both founders have asserted that Unilever and their ice cream division Magnum unlawfully blocked their company from "maintaining its activist principles".

The Fruit Sorbet becoming an Emblem for Support

The entrepreneur announced via social media how he is creating an innovative watermelon-based sorbet, requesting public suggestions for naming options and additional components.

“I'm doing what they couldn't,” the founder stated from a cooking set. “I'm creating a watermelon-flavored ice cream that advocates for lasting ceasefire for Palestinians and calls for repairing the damage that was done there.”

This particular fruit has become a symbol of solidarity with Palestinians because of its colors, which mirror the colors in the Palestinian flag – red, green, black and white.

Historical Social Engagement and Current Developments

Several years ago, the ice cream company refused to sell their merchandise in areas under Israeli control, leading to the parent company selling the Israeli operation over to an Israeli distributor, thereby permitting continued sales within the occupied West Bank.

This upcoming dessert series is being developed under Mr. Cohen's personal brand, the socially conscious dessert company which originally created several years back for endorsing former political contender Senator Sanders with the flavor "Bernie's Return".

Management Shifts and Future Plans

The founder indicated that he plans to develop other ice cream flavors focusing on concerns that Ben & Jerry's was prevented from addressing publicly due to corporate restrictions.

The announcement follows co-founder Mr. Greenfield resigned his position at Ben & Jerry's in September, after many years with the organization, citing worries regarding how the company's autonomy was compromised after corporate moves to curb its social activism.

At that time, Mr. Cohen remarked how "Jerry has strong compassion and the ongoing dispute with our parent company was deeply distressing him."

"My heart leads me to continue to work inside the company to advocate for corporate autonomy so that the company can fulfill its ethical purpose, the principles which established its foundation and has maintained for over 40 years," he explained to media outlets.
